Here’s a warm and comfortable way for you to enjoy music this winter: you can drive those winter blues away with “Rhapsody in Blue”.

The virtuosic pianist Carl Rafferty is joined by his fabulous friends, “The Tin Pan Alleycats”, in a toe-tapping tribute to the most entertaining composers of popular music: George Gershwin, Scott Joplin, Jerome Kern and Richard Rodgers.

We’re giving you the glorious tunes from “Porgy & Bess”. Then you’ll be serenaded by some of Gershwin’s most delectable theatre songs: you'll swoon to “Someone to Watch Over Me”; “S’Wonderful”; and “The Man I Love”.

Carl’s “Tin Pan Alleycats” are an old time jazz band, made up of young bloods. They’re sassy, brilliant players with a cheeky style and a heartwarming camaraderie. They make a sublime racket!!! You’lllove their unique arrangement of “Rhapsody in Blue”. The Tin Pan Alleycats will transport you to New York in the roaring 20’s as they capture the spirit of the jazz age. You’ll imagine the bright lights on Broadway marquees, the Great Gatsby and extravagant parties, prohibition and bootlegging!

You’ll rejoice to hear Scott Joplin’s rags: they’ve never sounded so fresh! The songs from Jerome Kern’s “Showboat” are a pinnacle of Broadway success.

You’ll enjoy a special encore: relive Gershwin’s exuberant 1928 trip to France with a sensual rendition of “An American in Paris”.

Morgan Merrell has made the remarkable new arrangement of Rhapsody in Blue, and will be featured as the percussionist on a plethora of exciting and exotic instruments."
