Moulin Rouge Downunder was born 6th June 2003. Whilst originally created as a burlesque club, the venue quickly evolved into much more than that…The concept was to make a night spot where quality acts and performances were guaranteed every night it opened. Whether that be dancers, bands, comedians, DJ’s etc. Whilst keeping true to the sexy burlesque theme dramatized by the theatre look décor, red lighting and plush surrounds. The velvet drapes having been designed by the original designer responsible for Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge movie, and as such the venue exudes a classic boudoir feel, with a certain element of mystery and an intimate vibe unparalleled throughout Sydney.
Now recognized as one of Sydney’s best Venues voted runner up in (3D World Magazine) Sydney’s best club Awards in 2004. Moulin Rouge has since garnered a reputation as at the forefront of cutting edge, underground venues. Which has seen the space used for various film clips, movie sets, photo shoots, fashion shows, etc…

Friday (Rouge RockR) RockR hails as Sydney’s longest running Friday night in the Cross, launching on 23rd Sept to a capacity crowd hanging from the rafters and has remained so since.
