Across 25 days and five capital cities, the Iranian Film Festival Australia has returned for a highly anticipated second year launching on 4 October 2012. It will provide cinephiles with the chance to catch a glimpse into Iranian identity as well as the opportunity to discover why it is currently one of the most talked about cinematic movements across the globe.

Launching in Brisbane (4-7 October), it is the only national-wide Australian festival dedicated to Iranian Cinema, and will return to Canberra (12-14 October) and Adelaide (25-28 October). Due to audience demand, the festival will also be opening in Melbourne (10-14 October) and Sydney (18-21 October) for the first time.

There is something for everybody this year ranging from the indie film, Hatred to the more art-house, Mourning. The 2012 programme will also include Here Without Me, The Last Step, Facing Mirrors (the first fictional Iranian feature about transgender issues) and latest box office hit, Orange Suit.

Film lovers can also explore what it means to be Persian with an extended retrospective session of documentaries about identity including Plastic Flowers Never Die, Utopia in the Making and Faces.
