"INDY FEST RIP OFF"
A Big DISSAPOINTMENT for VIP ticket purchasers. Definitely NOT value for money. The event organiser should be disgusted in themselves for charging so much money and not providing VIP service. My 7 friends and I all purchased the VIP tickets for Indy fest which were $156 each. This included alcohol and food also. When you pay the highest ticket price, you expect to get the best seat in the house. BUT NO - What we got was a fenced area like a cage, off to the side of the stage on the bitumen car park with tables and chairs under umbrellas (which was a positive). The stage front was NOT visible. When we wanted to watch the bands, we had to leave the alcohol fenced area and walk around to the stage and join the crowd who had paid only $70. No alcohol was to be taken outside this area either. Although we could drink all day and night it had to be in our caged area and the service slowed up by 7pm once more people arrived. I lined up at the bar and it was 8 deep. It took half an hour to get a drink. I only did that once and then I gave up drinking. I was told by others, that they stopped servicing the drinks at 8.30pm. As for the food, although they tried with their fancy finger food, it was very minimal and was not suitable for this event. It began with some platters of carrot, celery, bread and dip. Then some hot finger food came around later but that didn’t last long. The least we expected was hotdogs, sausages, hamburgers, pies etc. This would have been more appropriate for this type of event. It certainly wasn’t a finger food atmosphere. Leaving at 10pm hungry, The only positive thing I can say is that Good Charlotte were awesome and the crowd loved them. It was the only part of the day / night that was worthwhile. In comparison, we could have payed a lot less and sat in the nice park or hotel for the afternoon and enjoyed nice views and atmosphere spending a lot less money. The general feedback from other patrons was very negative also. I think they need to re consider what they offer VIP in future; at least a view of the stage whilst enjoying drinks, would have been better than being fenced off from the atmosphere. …

Daniel Stuart Fine Food, Southport

"A touch of class"
Southport has taken a change latley and one place that stands out a mile is Daniel Stuarts. A family run licenced cafe, it has a great feel from the minute you walk in, the walls are filled with fine foods and the front cabinet is full of all sorts of goodies most of which are made on site. I have to confess i do go very regularly and so i can definetly recommend visiting breakfast or lunch both menus are great and there not your typical gold coast cafe run of the mill food items, i recommend the salt and pepper calamari salald with a thai lemon dressing yum!!! …

Bella Luna Restaurant, Southport

"Another winedine By Jack"
Parking: On Street Service: I arrived early so there was no pressure on staff. Husband and wife both take a hands on approach Presentation: Excellent. As an entree I tried the Portabello Mushrooms a tad too much salt for my liking , however the Blue cheese cream sauce was nothing short of excellent. Topped with a pecorino salad, just brilliant. Main course was a Crispy Pork Belly and for a once a chef new how to cook crackling without breaking a tooth when you bit into it, again excellent. The accompanying wine reduction sauce was excellent. I was nearly tempted never to order another filet steak again. IT WAS THAT GOOD Wine List: Quite comprehensive, although I would like to see a large selections of wine by the glass. I tried the Goundrey Cab Merlot at $7.50 not bad at all, served at room temperature and left breathing for a few hours. It is these little touches that make the difference between a good dining experience and an excellent one. Well done Value for Money: Again this is a Gold Coast on the main drag restaurant. There prices are about right and not too over the top. Main course and entree put me back $44.00 add a few glass's of wine and you are looking at about $55 to $60 per person. Did I consider it good value ! Compared to the rest on the coast YES. Ambience: Mediterranean outdoor alfresco undercover of a huge sail. It was very enjoyable The feel good factor: I was by myself and enjoyed it immensely. The owners make a point to chat and speak to everyone. A most excellent dinning experience. A well deserved 4 glass rating by winedine.co.nz …
