Forming as dedicated party-starters in late-2010, Brisbane’s The Belligerents have continually grown from strength to strength over the last eighteen months. Their arrival commanded immediate attention, sparking widespread acclaim and a countless number of appearances around the country. Their journey has now culminated in their latest release offering - the She Calls The Shots EP, coinciding with an east-coast tour, kicking-off in hometown Brisbane on July 6.

The Belligerents’ first single ‘These Hands’ quickly garnered praise in 2010, receiving national radio airplay and support from international tastemakers in New York, Seoul and London. The strength of their debut 2011 EP Less Arty More Party paved the way for a flood of international tour supports for Metronomy (UK), Neon Indian (USA) and Breakbot (FRA), not to mention performances alongside esteemed locals Yacht Club DJs and Strange Talk. After spending twelve months on the road establishing their explosive live show around the country, The Belligerents returned to the studio in late-2011 to record a follow-up release.

Recorded under the guidance of local producer Yanto Browning (The Medics, The Jungle Giants, Art of Sleeping) at Brisbane’s Airlock Studios, She Calls The Shots EP captures The Belligerents’ dynamic and energetic live set perfectly. Covering themes of personal heartbreak, relationship struggles and the monotony of daily work life, the EP displays honest lyric writing and an overall strength for song writing.

The band has surged into 2012, performing recent sold-out single release shows in Sydney and Brisbane, and playing support to Sydney electro-heavyweights Van She in April. With a brand new single and video clip just around the corner, The Belligerents will once again tour the country in July and August to release their forthcoming EP.
