The Sydney International Piano Competition of Australia was established in July 1977 by Claire Dan, and admitted as a member of the Federation of International Music Competitions in 1978. It has now become internationally recognised as one of the world's great piano competitions.

Following world-wide auditions to locate a total of 36 of the finest pianists aged between 17 and 30, 3 stages of competition take place over 3 weeks at the Seymour Centre followed by the finals at the Sydney Opera House.

This is a unique opportunity to see the 2008 winner before they head off overseas to participate in several international festivals.
