Consistantly bad @ Everton Park Hotel

I have eaten at the E.P 3 times with different people now and on every occasion the food has been very disappointing.
Prices are at the higher end for pub food and to follow that up what comes out of the kitchen is at best average. The service is speedy and the staff friendly however what comes out should not have left the kitchen.
3rd and last time for me.

We ate at the EP on Saturday night with our 7 and 9 year-olds. After reading the other reviews, we were a bit apprehensive - and yes, my husband's ribs were cold and my steak was still bleeding (even after the order-taker recommended butterflying the eye fillet to make sure it was well done). We sent the meals back and watched as both were put back on the hotplate. Unfortunately, when the meals returned, the ribs were blackened. We looked at each other in dismay, as we had now waited a fair while and just wanted to eat! A passing waitress noticed our distress and waited politely while we decided whether to send the ribs back a second time. We all agreed that they were indeed burnt and would have to go back.
Third time lucky! We were obviously given someone else's ribs, as a new plate came straight back (sorry about that!). We then discovered that the bowl of veges with the steak were cold, but hey, I wasn't really intending to eat them anyway.
As we were finally tucking in, a waitress came over with a plateful of money - a refund for the ribs - and profuse apologies. We hadn't asked for or expected a refund.
So all in all, the food was only OK, but the wait-staff were very pleasant and helpful and let's face it, it's definitely got the best playground around and that's what you go there for!

Very Disappointed @ The Purple Olive

The steak was fatty, not quite what we were expecting. Had to spit it out and sent a plate of fat back to the kitchen. YUK! Told 2 of the staff we thought it was a bit fatty but we didn't hear anything back. The kitchen obviously didn't care. I wouldn't serve that at home why do they think they can? I had the duck - read it was recommended by other reviewers, it was bland, the garlic mash tasted of disinfectant. Most odd. Not impressed and will try next door at the Lunar Lounge another time. Very disappointed. Service was bad, only got better towards the end of the visit when one waitress noticed us and our original one forgot us. Atmosphere lively.

Gutted @ Lyrebird Restaurant

I booked a table for 7 on Tuesday for a Friday lunch prior to my daughter's graduation and carefully discussed all details with the staff member I spoke to, including access to QPAC, what time I should book (12.00) so we wouldn't be late and that 3 elderly people would be part of the group. I rang again on Thursday morning to change the booking to five and they said that was fine. At 4.15pm Thursday they rang to tell me they were not open for lunch after all! Why couldn't at least one staff member have been aware they were not open on Friday or at least taken the time to check!

Excellent @ Beach House Bar & Grill

My husband and I dropped in to the Beachhouse after shopping recently for lunch. We found the staff extremely friendly and were happy to answer any queries we had regarding the menu. Our meals didn't take long to arrive and both were very nice. I had a burger which I found really tasty, while my husband ordered steak - medium - which came perfectly cooked. We would recommend the Beach house at Stafford to anyone.

Buffet Breakfast not so good @ Spring Lake Hotel

The usual hot buffet including scrambled eggs, bacons, sausages, pancakes, hash brown, juices and coffees. Can't remember if there are any fruits...

Except there are absolutely no pastries, none, zero.. no croissants, danishes or muffins here...

The sausages are the longish bbq type not the nice short Chipolata type I normally expect....

So you can enjoy the hot varieties but don't expect to any sweet pastries...

Lovely Sunday breakfast buffet @ The Jindalee

I enjoy the Sunday breakfast immensely.

The atmosphere and decor are great - sunny and bright... Staff and service are good too...

And the food is high quality and fresh. Love the pastries and the pancakes..

Definitely will return many times... great value!

Our Favourite Restaurant @ Cucina of Italy

We found this little gem by accident taking a friend home from a party late one night. Our friends only live around the corner and had never been there so the next time we wanted to go out we decided to give it a try. Sooooo glad we did, as we have been there five times now and we are going again this very evening. We have taken different groups of friends as well as dining on our own and each time has been a pleasant and heart warming experience. The staff are friendly, the food is excellent and yes there is a price tag that is unusual for the suburbs, but I say thank goodness there is quality in the burbs instead of always going northside or the city for an upriced but excellent feed. Another thing about the price is although it may be above suburban expectations there is so much food that it is often hard to finish the meal.. this is in contrast to most modern restaurants that charge the earth for air. Looking for a good night out? Try Cuina of Italy, it will be worth your time.

terrible night out @ Cafe Mondial

Great location but that's it. The place is very cramped which makes it very difficult to move, my chair was broken, the food was horrible....too salty, burned, and served steamed rice as "risotto", very rude. They did not accept criticism, actually implied that the customers added salt to trick them. All in all a very bad experience, we left hungry, angry, frustrated and short 100 dollars.

Overall: Hate it!

Bellisimo @ Cafe La Famiglia

This cafe is the best thing to hit Brisbane. The food is the real italian deal. I have eaten here several times. The chicken Involtini and the pasta with prawns and salmon are the best you will taste. The owners go out of their way to make your evening one to remember. Make sure you grab a coffee from Joise its one of the nicest coffees i've tasted. Most evenings you are greeted by the owner John how loves to sit and chat and have a good laugh while your eating.

Overall: Love it!
