Regional Flavours 2012 will deliver the most interactive and delightful festival yet!
Regional Flavours is South Bank Corporation’s signature food and lifestyle event, which celebrates and promotes regional Queensland produce, the people who grow it and the creativity of our state’s chefs.
Now in its fourth year, Regional Flavours plays host to more than 100 of Queensland’s best food and wine producers from 12 different growing regions; South Burnett, Far North Queensland, the Granite Belt and Lockyer Valley will all be represented, plus many more. The wonderful outdoor setting of Little Stanley lawns in the Parklands, South Bank will be transformed as the country comes to the city for a celebration of sumptuous food and healthy lifestyles.
Following the theme of ‘What does our food say about us?’ the Regional Flavours program will focus on how the personal narrative combines with community consciousness to create the many and varied food traditions present in Queensland – from migrant recipes using local ingredients to native indigenous foods gone gourmet – food in all its forms will be celebrated.
The aptly named Epicurious Tent will be the setting for an exploration of a range of recent food movements including balcony gardening; shopping and eating organic; the concept of the ‘locavore’; and using native Queensland ingredients in everyday cooking. Some of Queensland’s most inspirational chefs will share their passions through handy tips and hints on preparing special date night food, gourmet picnic hampers and spa cuisine.
Over in The Grove, at the Froth & Bubbles Appreciation Sessions you can learn all there is to know about picking, storing and drinking the state’s best wine and boutique-brewed beer.
Stay up to date with the latest news on Regional Flavours by subscribing to our newsletter.
The South Bank Corporation has also partnered with Plant Up to create a series of Regional Flavours living signage sculptures, which can be seen around the Parklands in the lead up to Regional Flavours. May sure to keep an eye out for these features when visiting the Parklands, to enjoy watching the live installations grow and evolve as the plants mature, fruit and flower.
