Palace Cinemas, Hopscotch Films and Connoisseur Gourmet Ice Cream invites you to be the first to see the highly anticipated Australian film The Sapphires [PG] which received a standing ovation at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. Join us for this wonderful film inspired by a true story in the company of stars Deborah Mailman, Jessica Mauboy, Miranda Tapsell and Director Wayne Blair at an intimate screening at Palace Barracks Cinemas on August 7 at 6:45pm. Every person in attendance will also receive a complimentary tasting from the tantalising range of Connoisseur Gourmet Ice Cream inspired by our Australian landscape.

"Sisters are doin’ it for themselves in this music-filled sparkling charmer. An exuberant celebration that fizzes with humour and heart. Aussies are going to give this film a joyous bear hug.” Hollywood Reporter

“An energetic, amusing and resolutely feel-good-film-with-a-message. Audiences will embrace its exuberance and breezy nature.” Screen International

The Sapphires (PG) is inspired by the story of four talented singers from a remote Aboriginal mission who are discovered by an unlikely talent scout (Chris O'Dowd). Plucked from obscurity and branded as Australia's answer to The Supremes, The Sapphires grasp the chance of a lifetime when they're offered their first real gig - entertaining the troops in Vietnam. For the girls, a whole new world of friendship, love, war and soul opens before them. Adapted from the hugely successful Australian stage musical of the same name, and inspired by the remarkable true story of writer Tony Briggs' mother and her family. It stars AFI Award winner Deborah Mailman and Australian singer Jessica Mauboy alongside Bridesmaids actor Chris O'Dowd, and features an unbeatable soul music soundtrack.

Destined to be a smash Australian hit, The Sapphires (PG) boasts a great story full of love, laughter and tears, set against the backdrop of the social upheaval of the 1960s, with wonderful performances from the entire cast.
