No composer's works symbolize the spirit of Habsburg Vienna more vividly than the Strauss family and their immortal waltzes, with Johann Strauss the Younger's masterpiece in 3/4 time, On the Beautiful Blue Danube , the favourite of them all. After the dance, luxuriate in the voluptuous sounds of QSO's strings in one of the last and greatest outpourings of Romantic Viennese music, Arnold Schonberg's Transfigured Night . In his annual pilgrimage to Queensland, British violinist Jack Liebeck , reprises his 2011 success with Brahms' profound and moving Violin Concerto; a work which enshrines the composer's soul.
