This year we are celebrating 200 years of independence.

Every year, this special day is celebrated with a big party in which all people and friends get together, honour the Colombian anthem, eat, and party with typical Colombian music.

In the 19th century, 400 years after Christopher Colombus discovered the New World (the continent of America), Colombia was governed by Spain. On July 20, 1810, Colombian patriots stirred the population of Bogotá into street protests against Spanish rule. In 1819, the Colombian people fought the last battle at Boyaca's bridge and the patriot army won it. Their commander was Simon Bolivar who liberated five countries in South America.

Come and discover the best of Colombia right here in Brisbane as we celebrate 200 years of Independence.

We have a massive programme of entertainment to surprise and delight the whole family including special activities for the children and dancing for all ages, with typical Colombian food and drinks, live music, dancing, workshops and DJ's. A blending of traditional folkloric dance with professional contemporary dancers will illustrate the spontaneity and sensuality of Colombia! Colombians and friends of Colombia from Queensland are expected to turn out for this celebration.

Tickets: FREE by purchasing Friday’s ticket otherwise $7
